The World Robot Olympiad registration is officially open for Saudi students between the ages of 8 and 22, according to reporting by SPA (Arabic). The King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, widely known as Mawhiba, announced the opening of the registration process across the Kingdom through its centralized digital portal.
Three Stages of National Competition
The competition follows a structured three-stage path within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Participants begin by completing the initial registration and preliminary qualification phase. From there, successful teams advance to the regional qualifiers held across various provinces, before competing against top regional finalists in the national championship.
The highest-ranking national teams will earn the opportunity to represent Saudi Arabia at the international finals in Puerto Rico. At the global stage, Saudi innovators will compete against qualifying teams representing approximately 100 countries worldwide.
Mawhiba oversees the early registration and regional tournament rounds through a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and Asr Robotics Company. Furthermore, this collaborative effort supports practical education programs designed to prepare emerging innovators for rigorous international technical standards.
Focus on Robotics and Cultural Heritage
The 2026 edition of the competition operates under the official theme of Robotics and Culture. Under this framework, challenge categories require participating youth to design and deploy robotics and artificial intelligence systems tailored specifically toward preserving, restoring, and digitizing cultural heritage.
In addition to heritage preservation projects, teams will develop technical models that improve how audiences engage and interact with art and historical assets. Consequently, these hands-on challenges help participants build practical competencies in engineering design, coding, and collaborative problem-solving, while introducing them to modern smart devices in competitive settings.
Registration and Community Participation
To ensure broad national participation in the World Robot Olympiad, Mawhiba has encouraged eligible youth across all regions of the Kingdom to submit their applications promptly through the foundation’s official portal. Additionally, the foundation called upon educators, schools, and parents to actively support young learners showing an aptitude for robotics, software development, and technical learning tracks.
