ACDelco battery production has reached a milestone of 60 million units in Saudi Arabia as General Motors Africa and Middle East and the Middle East Battery Company mark three decades of strategic alliance. The announcement coincides with General Motors marking 100 years of regional operations across the Middle East and Africa.
Established in 1996 as part of an economic offset initiative, MEBCO operates a specialized manufacturing plant in the Kingdom. The joint venture brings together General Motors and Saudi industrial groups including Zamil Group Holding Company, Al-Jomaih Holding, Al-Mutlaq Group, Al-Essa Group, and the Saudi Automotive Services Company (SASCO).
Milestone in ACDelco Battery Production
The facility remains the sole manufacturing base in the region for sealed, maintenance-free batteries under the ACDelco brand. Furthermore, continuous investments have expanded output to meet growing maintenance demand across local and regional automotive markets.

General Motors currently oversees a distribution network of 17 distributors across 29 countries in the region, operating more than 203 customer-facing facilities. Consequently, maintaining reliable ACDelco battery production supports operational readiness for commercial and individual transport across Africa, the Levant, and GCC countries.
Future Expansion and Technology Integration
Looking ahead, the alliance plans to optimize regional distribution networks and expand into new markets. Additionally, MEBCO and GM will integrate updated industrial processes to keep regional ACDelco battery production aligned with modern vehicle electrical requirements.
