Google has updated its file-sharing system, introducing a tap-to-share capability to Android Quick Share that allows users to exchange files by physically bringing devices close together.
According to TechCrunch, this update was announced alongside the launch of the Pixel 11 smartphone lineup. The new capability simplifies the process of sending contact information, photos, and videos.
Users can initiate a transfer directly from the system share sheet and then tap their compatible devices together to complete the wireless transmission.
How the New Tap-to-Share Feature Works
The system utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) and proximity sensors to establish a secure connection. This technology enables what Google describes as an instant, two-way exchange between two active devices.
