Shameerudin Sharief, Governance, Risk & Compliance Manager at Ankabut, contributed to developing the Global Resilience Standard (GRS 1001-RN:2026), a unified framework for organizational resilience published by Resilience Next on May 13, 2026.

The Global Resilience Standard unifies business continuity, risk management, crisis management, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence governance into one integrated system. The standard was developed through a collaborative process involving 34 experts from 24 countries, generating over 316 individual contributions, 170 expert comments and 530 tracked changes.

Shameer’s Role in Development

As one of GRS 1001-RN’s key contributors, Shameer contributed 31 documented inputs to the review of technical content. He supported the refinement of the standard’s operational requirements, ensuring its applicability across diverse organizational contexts. Framework Structure and Pillars

The Global Resilience Standard is the world’s first integrated resilience framework, introducing a Global Resilience Management System (GRMS). This system brings together traditionally separate disciplines including business continuity management, enterprise risk management, crisis management, cybersecurity, AI governance, ESG and third-party risk management into one auditable management system.

The standard was built on four operational pillars: Prevent, Respond, Recover and Return to Normal. It utilizes four management lifecycle stages: Define, Design, Embed and Improve. This approach moves beyond traditional compliance-driven frameworks by embedding resilience as part of a continuous organizational capability.

Strategic Positioning for Ankabut

Shameer’s contribution to an international standard places Ankabut among a select group of organizations with direct influence on global resilience best practice. The standard’s emphasis on digital operational resilience, cybersecurity integration and technology risk governance directly aligns with the challenges that Ankabut addresses for its member institutions in the education and research sector.

With his involvement, Ankabut gains early visibility on how resilience standards are evolving. This allows the company to anticipate and adapt to changes, supporting the development of a secure digital infrastructure for the UAE’s education and research sector. The UAE’s National Research and Education Network leverages integrated platforms, AI-enabled capabilities, and secure infrastructure to enable institutions to move from fragmented systems to unified, data-driven environments.
