The AVIXA Foundation has opened applications for the Michael Verguawen Scholarship, offering ten awards of $2,500 USD each to support students pursuing careers in the audiovisual industry. Applications are being accepted through June 30, 2026.
The scholarship supports students enrolled in vocational, undergraduate, or graduate programs related to audiovisual, creative, and integrated experience industries. Each award provides a one-time contribution toward tuition costs for eligible applicants worldwide.
Michael Verguawen Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Michael Verguawen Scholarship, applicants must be at least 16 years old and enrolled in a program related to audiovisual and integrated experience fields. Applicants must demonstrate interest in an AV career through coursework, work experience, volunteer activities, or related extracurricular involvement.
Previous scholarship recipients and individuals employed full-time in the audiovisual industry are ineligible. However, applicants who work part-time, on contract, or in an internship or apprenticeship role may apply.
Foundation’s Track Record in Educational Support
The AVIXA Foundation, the nonprofit charitable arm of AVIXA, has awarded more than $800,000 to nearly 500 students and emerging professionals through its scholarship program. Previous recipients have launched careers at organizations including iHeartMedia, META, and Q-SYS, demonstrating the program’s impact on workforce development.
Sarah Joyce, Executive Director of the AVIXA Foundation and Chief Global Officer of AVIXA, stated that the scholarship supports emerging professionals as they gain skills and education needed for careers in audiovisual technology. The program aims to build the industry’s workforce while creating accessible career pathways.

Each application undergoes review by a panel of industry leaders and volunteers who evaluate applicants based on achievements, academic performance, and available resources and opportunities. The foundation encourages eligible candidates to submit applications and industry professionals to promote this opportunity.
The Michael Verguawen Scholarship honors the legacy of Michael Vergauwen, the late Chief Operating Officer of FORTÉ and long-time AVIXA board member.
