Apple announced new App Store capabilities to help developers expand their businesses and reach more users globally.
These updates provide developers with additional options to market their applications on the platform. Consequently, creators can use new promotional assets and subscription models starting this year.
New App Store capabilities for Marketing
Developers can now use rich images and videos in product page headers and search results. Specifically, these creative assets allow businesses to highlight their brand identity.
Furthermore, a new Asset Library in App Store Connect will store these files in one central location. This centralized library allows developers to reuse assets across custom product pages and in-app events.
As a result, teams can submit marketing materials for review independently. This change simplifies promotional campaigns while reducing redundant uploads across the platform.
Enhanced Discovery and User Engagement
The platform will introduce personalized collections based on user interests to improve app discovery. In addition, Apple will provide editorial notes explaining why specific applications are recommended.
These recommendations will appear across the Apps, Games, and Search tabs. Game developers can also submit special offers directly to the editorial team for promotional consideration.
Meanwhile, these personalized recommendations will launch first in English in the United States before expanding to other regions.
Subscription Scaling and Group Purchases
Apple is updating its in-app purchase system to support multi-user subscription options. Specifically, developers can use StoreKit 2 to offer group subscriptions for businesses.
This feature allows one user to purchase multiple seats and invite others to join the subscription. Volume purchasing will become available through Apple Business Manager and Apple School Manager this autumn.
Meanwhile, group purchases will launch in the winter. These new App Store capabilities will help developers build long-term value and increase subscriber retention.
Developers can also partner to offer bundled subscriptions containing apps from different creators. Additionally, new retention messaging tools will allow developers to communicate with users during the cancellation process.
These tools help businesses present tailored offers to retain customers.
Streamlined Submissions and Parental Controls
The submission process will become more efficient by allowing developers to group multiple in-app purchases into a single review. Moreover, Mac App Store applications will no longer require Intel support, allowing developers to submit Apple silicon-only binaries.
For families, Apple is introducing new time allowance features in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. Consequently, parents can manage the time children spend on specific categories like social media.
To support this, developers must complete an updated age rating questionnaire starting in July. This questionnaire helps categorize apps accurately to ensure parental controls function correctly.
Ultimately, these updated App Store capabilities aim to maintain high safety standards while supporting developer growth.
