The new Apple iPhone Duo marks the company’s first foldable smartphone, featuring dual displays and an A20 Pro processor. When opened, the device provides a 7.6-inch inner Super Retina XDR display with a nano-texture finish designed to minimize glare. When closed, users interact with a 5.4-inch outer display that provides 90 percent of the screen area of iPhone 18 Pro in a compact form factor.

Both screens on the device share identical aspect ratios to maintain visual continuity when transitioning between modes. The displays offer ProMotion technology, Always-On functionality, and up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. In addition, Apple announced that the device will support Apple Pencil with USB-C later this year for note-taking and sketching across both panels. Users can also utilize Touch ID integrated directly into the side button for biometric authentication.
Durability and Titanium Engineering
The frame is manufactured from grade 5 titanium with a polished finish, paired with a 3D-printed hinge cover. Ceramic Shield protects the rear surface, while Ceramic Shield 2 on the front delivers three times better scratch resistance than previous iterations. The internal hinge consists of over 100 components to regulate opening and closing tension. Furthermore, the folding mechanism includes custom adhesives between display layers that reduce bend stress during continuous operation.
The hardware carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Internally, support ribs and antenna splits reinforced with ceramic fiber inserts increase structural stiffness. The Apple iPhone Duo incorporates a custom vapor chamber connected directly to the processor to dissipate heat during intense workloads.
