Diamond cooling servers have entered commercial deployment for the first time, as Akash Systems, Inc. said on March 4, 2026, that it has launched AI servers using its patented Diamond Cooling® technology, powered by AMD Instinct™ MI350X GPUs and manufactured by MiTAC Computing (3706.TW).
The launch marks the first commercial deployment of Diamond Cooling® technology with AMD Instinct™ GPUs in artificial intelligence data centers. Akash Systems said it plans to extend Diamond Cooling® support to additional AMD Instinct™ GPU systems later in 2026, including the AMD Instinct MI355X and future AMD Instinct GPUs.
Why Diamond Cooling Servers Outperform Copper-Based Systems
Diamond holds the highest thermal conductivity of any known material. It removes heat five times faster than copper, the standard material used in thermal management. Akash Systems said its Diamond Cooling® solution functions as an additive layer that complements existing air and liquid cooling technologies rather than replacing them.
The technology has previously been validated in space, where it currently operates aboard active satellite systems. Moreover, the solution is fully covered by existing AMD and manufacturer warranties.
Performance and Energy Efficiency Gains
Akash Systems said the technology delivers GPU and High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) temperature reductions of up to 10 degrees Celsius (18 degrees Fahrenheit). As a result, operators achieve significantly greater compute throughput using the same power infrastructure. The company reported up to a 22% increase in FLOPs/Watt at standard data center ambient temperatures of approximately 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
Furthermore, data centers can reduce cooling power allocation by up to 100% while maintaining high performance at ambient temperatures reaching approximately 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Akash Systems testing showed this can produce up to a 15% improvement in token throughput. Consequently, each diamond cooling server can generate up to $1 million in additional value over four years compared to servers without the solution.
Initial Order and Investor Backing
The company said it received an initial launch order valued at $300 million. Akash Systems is backed by venture capital firms Khosla Ventures and Founders Fund.

The collaboration targets high-demand applications where thermal throttling limits GPU performance. By maintaining lower GPU temperatures, the solution helps prevent thermal throttling and can extend hardware lifespan. Hyperscale data centers represent a key deployment target for the partnership.
