The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the fourth edition of the Global Forum on the Ethics of AI in Riyadh from September 14 to 17, 2026. The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), in collaboration with UNESCO and the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), will co-host the event.

The Global Forum on the Ethics of AI serves as a high-level international platform for addressing ethical challenges and opportunities associated with artificial intelligence development and deployment. The forum brings together decision-makers, experts, ministers, and representatives from international organizations worldwide to support implementation of relevant international principles and balance technological advancement with social responsibility.

ICAIRE’s Role in AI Ethics

The International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), headquartered in Riyadh under UNESCO’s auspices as a Category 2 Center, plays a central role in advancing international research and policy on AI ethics. The center supports the development of ethical frameworks for responsible artificial intelligence use across the globe.

Saudi Arabia’s AI Leadership Position

Hosting the forum reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting responsible AI use and shaping an ethical and inclusive digital future. The event coincides with the designation of 2026 as the Year of Artificial Intelligence and SDAIA’s organization of the fourth Global AI Summit, scheduled for September 15 to 17, 2026.

The Global AI Summit will be held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This dual hosting of major international AI events reinforces Riyadh’s position as a leading global destination for artificial intelligence conferences and forums.

International Partnerships and Sustainable Development

The hosting builds on Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts to strengthen international partnerships with UNESCO and its sustained support for developing ethical AI frameworks. The forum’s focus on responsible AI development aligns with broader efforts to support achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event demonstrates growing international confidence in Saudi Arabia’s standing in global AI governance and its leadership in advancing efforts toward responsible and ethical artificial intelligence development on the world stage.
