Google I/O 2026 is shaping up to be the most consequential AI event of the year, with the two-day conference scheduled for May 19 and 20 bringing expected previews of Gemini 4, VO4 video generation, Android XR glasses, and a major expansion of autonomous AI agents. The company enters the event with 750 million Gemini users and $185 billion committed to artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Gemini 4: What the Data Suggests

Demis Hasabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, confirmed publicly that Gemini 4 is in active development. The research variant, called Deep Think, scored 84.6% on the ARC-AGI2 benchmark and reached 3,455 ELO on Codeforces, placing it in the top 0.2% of programmers worldwide. Those figures represent a meaningful jump over prior results.

Predictions from multiple sources point to a context window exceeding 2 million tokens, persistent long-term memory across sessions, response latency under 300 milliseconds, and full integration with Project Astra for real-time multimodal processing. Polymarket currently assigns only a 14.5% probability to a full Gemini 4 release before June, though industry insiders suggest the model is ready and Google is timing the announcement strategically.

Google I/O 2026 Hardware: AI Glasses and Aluminium OS
