Huawei led the global wrist-worn device market during the first half of 2026 by securing the top spot in shipments with a market share exceeding 20%, according to a recent report by research firm IDC. The market research company indicated that Huawei maintained its leading position across international shipments through product releases and updates tailored to diverse user segments.
Shipment Performance in the Wrist-Worn Device Market
Since 2021, Huawei has consistently ranked first by shipment volume in China’s domestic wrist-worn sector. Furthermore, the company has secured the top ranking in the global wrist-worn device market multiple times since 2024. IDC attributed this sustained position to the company’s product iteration strategy and its portfolio spanning various price points and functional categories in smart devices.

New Models for Fitness and Daily Wellness
During the first half of 2026, Huawei introduced specialized wearables for dedicated sports use as well as general wellness. The company launched the HUAWEI WATCH GT Runner 2 in collaboration with athlete Eliud Kipchoge and his team. This device features a Marathon mode and a running power metric, providing tools for pre-race preparation, real-time pacing, and post-race recovery to monitor exercise intensity.
Meanwhile, Huawei expanded its wellness portfolio with the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 5 Series. This model introduces a Mini-workout feature that provides short, lightweight exercise routines. The functionality is designed for users seeking quick physical activity during short breaks to address sedentary daily habits.
Product Portfolio and Health Monitoring Updates
Huawei also updated several other core lines, releasing the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Series, HUAWEI WATCH GT 7 Series, and HUAWEI WATCH D3. These models received updates in fitness tracking, health monitoring metrics, and smart interactive capabilities. These features integrate with broader health-tracking systems in health technology.
As these new models roll out through the second half of 2026, Huawei stated it plans to expand its wearable product lines across multiple use cases. In addition, the company’s historical financial disclosures show that research and development spending exceeded 23 billion dollars in 2023, representing 23.4% of annual revenue, with total ten-year R&D investment surpassing 154 billion dollars across its consumer and business units.
