This study surveyed 400 senior executives across the region to analyze infrastructure development. Notably, 66% of regional executives support accelerating the global energy transition, compared to 57% globally.
Decarbonization of core operations represents the primary priority for Middle Eastern organizations over the next three years. Furthermore, 70% of these organizations have established direct and emissions targets alongside specific plans to achieve them. Meanwhile, 68% of respondents identified digitalization as the critical enabler for this energy transition.

Industrial artificial intelligence is accelerating operational transformation across regional industries. Specifically, 62% of surveyed executives expect AI to reshape infrastructure operations within the next three years. In addition, 61% of respondents stated that AI already makes their existing infrastructure more resilient.
Regarding automation, 56% of organizations are prepared to implement autonomous systems in buildings. Consequently, 57% plan to make significant investments in these systems over the coming year. Furthermore, 69% of respondents support adopting smarter technologies to enable rapid data integration.
Power Grid Challenges in the Middle East
Despite the progress, power-grid limitations may slow the regional transition to clean energy. Specifically, 62% of respondents stated that inadequate grid infrastructure holds back electrification. Meanwhile, 64% of executives view smart grids and grid software as crucial enablers for the transition.
To address these limitations, 66% of respondents suggest managing different energy systems through a single coordinated system. This includes electricity, gas, hydrogen, and transportation. Consequently, cross-border interconnections and regional power trading are considered essential for maintaining a reliable electricity supply.
