The first batch of the LEPAS L8 PHEV has been shipped to the Middle East, marking the brand’s official entry into the region.

Chery Group’s new mid-to-premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand held a shipment ceremony at Guangzhou Nansha Port. The initial shipment is bound for key markets, including the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, ahead of the official regional brand launch.

Regional Strategy for the LEPAS L8 PHEV

The upcoming launch event will introduce the brand’s regional strategy and product portfolio to Middle Eastern consumers. This shipment initiates the global delivery phase for the brand. Consequently, the company plans to expand its footprint across the region by introducing a diversified portfolio of vehicles.

Gulf countries are actively accelerating their transition to electric mobility. Specifically, the UAE and Kuwait are implementing supportive policies for new energy vehicles, including the expansion of charging infrastructure and consumer incentives like purchase tax reductions. This regulatory environment supports the brand’s entry into the regional automotive market.

Technical Specifications and Performance

The LEPAS L8 PHEV is a five-seat SUV built on the Intelligent LEX Platform. It features a 2800mm wheelbase and is designed to meet the specific environmental demands of the Middle East. Notably, the vehicle is equipped with UV-insulated heat-reducing glass and an intelligent climate control system. This system can reduce the cabin temperature by 32 degrees Celsius within five minutes.

Powered by a hybrid system, the vehicle delivers a total range of over 1,300 kilometers. It records a fuel consumption rate of 2.38 liters per 100 kilometers. This combination of range and efficiency makes the vehicle suitable for both daily urban commuting and long-distance intercity travel.

Future Product Lineup and Intelligent Systems

Following this initial shipment, the company plans to introduce additional models to the Middle Eastern market. These models will include the L6 EV, L4 EV, and L6 PHEV. Furthermore, the brand plans to deploy its upgraded Super Intelligent Valet Parking (SIVP) system in the region within the current year, building on its existing intelligent parking technology.

These technological advancements align with broader regional trends in smart devices and connected transport. The integration of automated parking systems represents a key step in the brand’s localized product strategy.

Localized Operations and Global Expansion

The brand’s expansion strategy focuses on developing tailored solutions for different regional markets. In addition to the Middle East, the company is establishing a distribution network across Asia, Europe, and Latin America. This expansion supports the parent company’s global development philosophy of localized operations.

By establishing local operations, the company aims to address specific regional mobility needs. The growth of the NEV sector in the Middle East represents a significant opportunity for international manufacturers. Consequently, the brand’s long-term strategy involves deepening its presence in these emerging markets to support the regional economy.
