LG Electronics has launched the LG Sports Playbook service on its smart televisions to provide real-time sports data and analytics directly on the screen. The new service is available on the company’s app store for smart televisions running webOS 5.0 and above. Consequently, users can access live match updates, data visualizations, and tournament tracking from their living rooms.
The service delivers pre-game previews, in-game analytics, and post-game breakdowns for sports enthusiasts. Meanwhile, the platform integrates these features into a centralized hub, reducing the need for viewers to use secondary screens during live broadcasts.
Features of LG Sports Playbook
The LG Sports Playbook application offers three primary features to enhance the viewing experience. Specifically, the live match updates feature displays real-time scores, schedules, and league standings directly on the television screen. In addition, the data visualization tool provides analytics dashboards with head-to-head comparisons and key match data.
Users can also access tournament brackets to track postseason developments and series progression in one place. This visual presentation helps viewers monitor team and player performance trends clearly.
Integration with LG Sports Portal
The service operates within the broader LG Sports Portal, which combines live viewing with statistics for supported leagues. Notably, this portal offers free sports channels customized by region through LG Channels. For instance, viewers in the United States can access the NFL Channel and MLB FAST Channel. Meanwhile, European audiences can view programming from FIFA+, Inter 24/7, and the DP World Tour.
Supported Television Models
To support these data-heavy features, the company recommends its latest ultra-large QNED evo and Micro RGB evo television models. These displays provide larger screen sizes and enhanced contrast to handle fast-moving sports action. As a result, viewers can monitor real-time statistics alongside high-definition broadcasts.
Global Availability and Regional Access
The LG Sports Playbook service is expanding to 51 countries, including Saudi Arabia, on compatible smart monitors and televisions. Chris Jo, head of the webOS Platform Business Center at the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, stated that the goal is to make smart televisions the home for sports. He added that the service brings live data and interactive features directly to the big screen.

The webOS platform has powered the company’s televisions for over a decade, supporting various digital services and home entertainment platforms. Specifically, these services include the LG Gaming Portal, LG Gallery+, and the newly updated sports hub. Users in Saudi Arabia can download the application starting this week.
