The Nissan Formula E Team has confirmed Oliver Rowland and Zane Maloney as its official driver line-up for the 2026/27 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. This announcement comes ahead of Season 13, which marks the competitive debut of the new GEN4 electric racing era. The announcement was issued from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as teams finalize preparations for the upcoming technological transition in the automotive racing sector.
Driver Lineup for Season 13
Rowland will continue for his fourth consecutive campaign with the outfit under a multi-year agreement. The British racer previously secured the Drivers’ World Championship in Season 11 and took fourth place in the overall standings during the last campaign with six podium finishes, including a race win in Monaco. Rowland originally joined the Japanese manufacturer during its debut in Season 5 before returning for the GEN3 era in Season 10.
Meanwhile, Maloney enters his third season in the all-electric championship after scoring top-10 finishes in São Paulo, Monaco, and Tokyo during the 2025/26 campaign. The Barbadian driver previously achieved 11 podiums and two victories across the 2023 and 2024 Formula 2 seasons, finishing fourth in the championship standings before transitioning to electric racing.
Technical Upgrades in the GEN4 Era
Season 13 introduces the GEN4 machinery, representing a notable change in technical specifications compared to the previous GEN3 cars. Standard race power output increases from 300kW to 450kW, while Attack Mode power delivery rises to 600kW from the previous 350kW limit. Furthermore, the integration of Active All-Wheel Drive provides increased acceleration and higher cornering speeds on street circuits.

Team Leadership on the Nissan Formula E Roster
Tommaso Volpe, managing director and team principal of the Nissan Formula E Team, stated that Rowland’s long-term relationship with the team provides stability as the organization enters the new regulatory cycle. Volpe noted that Maloney brings valuable single-seater pedigree from Formula 2 alongside two complete seasons of electric championship experience. In addition, the team aims to utilize this driver pairing to optimize its development track record in the sustainable economy of international motorsport.
Pre-Season Testing and Electrification Targets
The driver pairing will conduct official pre-season testing at Circuito del Jarama in Spain between 16 and 20 November. Nissan became the first manufacturer to commit to the GEN4 era through 2030, supporting its broader Ambition 2030 electrification strategy. The company aims to achieve carbon neutrality across its product life cycles by 2050 while electrifying its complete new vehicle portfolio in key markets by the early 2030s, using track data to refine consumer smart devices and vehicle technologies.
