Panasonic has announced an upcoming Panasonic camera firmware update that introduces three color adjustment tools for its 4K studio hardware. The development addresses lighting challenges faced in modern broadcast and virtual production setups.
Color Temp Blend for Mixed Lighting
Production environments frequently combine large LED display walls with conventional stage lighting. Consequently, differences in color temperature between these two sources can make subjects on camera look unnatural. Traditional white balance setups require crews to choose a single reference source, forcing a compromise between stage lights and video backdrops.
To solve this issue, the Color Temp Blend tool captures color temperature data from both sources simultaneously. The system then blends this data to generate a balanced white point. This capability creates visual unity between live subjects and LED backgrounds across various entertainment technology productions.
Pinpoint Adjustments with Target Color Correction
The update also introduces Target Color Correction to manage specific colors on set. Specifically, operators can select a designated color and adjust its hue and saturation individually. This tool allows precise correction of corporate brand colors or sponsor graphics on LED walls without altering the rest of the image.
Furthermore, production teams can configure up to three separate color tables at the same time. This feature enables independent optimization of multiple critical colors during live broadcasts. As a result, technical directors can maintain exact brand standards while speeding up color matching on location.
Managing High Saturation with Chroma Suppression
The third feature in the new software update is Chroma Suppression. In live concert venues and stages, LED screens often present vivid computer graphics that can cause excessive color shift or oversaturation on camera. Chroma Suppression prevents these distortions while preserving overall color balance across the entire frame.
Release Schedule for Panasonic camera firmware
The Panasonic camera firmware update is scheduled for release in November 2026. It will support both the 4K Studio Camera AK-UCX100 and the 4K Multi-Purpose Camera AK-UBX100. In addition, the AK-UCX100 model retains its Synchro Scan Fine capability alongside the new features.
Before the official rollout, Panasonic will demonstrate these color adjustment capabilities at the IBC 2026 exhibition in Amsterdam from September 11 to 14, 2026.
