Panasonic announced the development of new smart devices for video production, introducing two high-end Panasonic PTZ cameras equipped with a global shutter MOS sensor. The AW-UE200 series and AW-UER200 series are designed to eliminate distortion when recording fast movement, dynamic stage lighting, and LED wall studio backgrounds.
The AW-UE200 series includes the AW-UE200W/K standard model and the AW-UE210W/K, which integrates SMPTE ST 2110 and Dante connectivity. Panasonic plans to release the AW-UE200 line in February 2027. Meanwhile, the AW-UER200 series features the AW-UER200W/K roll model and the AW-UER210W/K, scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2027.
Sensor Specifications and Imaging Performance
Both camera lines integrate a 1.2-inch global shutter 5K MOS sensor. Consequently, the sensor captures fast-moving subjects in sports broadcasting without rolling shutter distortion. The hardware uses 5K oversampling to output detailed 4K video footage.
In addition, Panasonic stated that a future firmware update will enable high frame rate recording. Specifically, this update will provide high-definition capture at 120 frames per second and 180 frames per second for slow-motion replays. Stage lighting flicker is also reduced during live events.
Lens Capabilities and Mechanical Speed
The new hardware features an integrated lens offering a 22x optical zoom, covering a 35mm equivalent focal length of 22.5mm to 500mm. Furthermore, an 80-degree horizontal field of view allows broad coverage in restricted spaces.
Zoom transition speeds range from 0.5 seconds to 180 seconds across the focal range. Regarding physical movement, the pan and tilt mechanism reaches speeds up to 400 degrees per second, accelerating from standstill to full speed in approximately 0.2 seconds.
Roll Functionality in Panasonic PTZ Cameras
The AW-UER200 line introduces a dedicated roll mechanism with a range spanning from minus 200 degrees to plus 200 degrees. This mechanism supports simultaneous 16:9 and 9:16 video outputs, aiding production teams creating vertical content for social media channels.
Moreover, operators can execute one-touch horizontal leveling via remote controllers. This feature simplifies hardware setup on cranes or angled studio ceilings, expanding placement options for production crews.
IP Workflow and Broadcast Exhibition
The AW-UE210W/K and AW-UER210W/K models support SMPTE ST 2110 IP video workflows alongside Dante audio protocols. SMPTE ST 2110 provides uncompressed 4K video transmission, low-latency JPEG XS transport, and IP return video feeds. Redundant network connections are also supported to maintain broadcast reliability across enterprise telecom infrastructures.
Panasonic will exhibit both new Panasonic PTZ cameras at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2026 in Amsterdam from September 11 to 14, 2026.
