The expansion includes SAS Supply Chain Agent, now available in private preview and rolling out globally for enterprises. The solution automates supply and operations planning, a process retailers and manufacturers traditionally conduct monthly across multiple departments using spreadsheets to manage six to twelve months of inventory forecasting.
SAS Supply Chain Agent Capabilities
SAS Supply Chain Agent runs continuously to balance demand, supply and operations. Users can optimize supply chains during high-demand periods, forecast future needs based on usage patterns and reduce waste and over-ordering. The solution maintains near real-time visibility into supply chain operations, enabling organizations to access data continuously for informed decision-making both during and outside planning windows.
Business users interact with the agent through an intuitive chat interface that supports exploration and problem-solving. Users can run scenarios, such as modeling a fifteen percent demand drop, and receive explanations of how the agent reached its conclusions. Kathy Lange, Research Director at IDC’s AI, Data, and Automation Software practice, stated that SAS is compressing a very complex process which could deliver significant value by translating longstanding supply chain knowledge into agentic AI solutions.
Digital Twins Transform Industrial Operations
SAS creates digital twins of customers’ industrial environments using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine, allowing organizations to simulate scenarios and test operational changes. A major medical device sterilization provider collaborated with SAS to build a digital twin of their facility. The customer initially believed medical tool trays were getting stuck in a buffer lift, bottlenecking the entire process. Analysis of the digital twin revealed the buffer lift was actually functioning as a central distribution point causing delays. After targeted adjustments, production pace improved.
Worker Safety Through Synthetic Data and Computer Vision
SAS Worker Safety enables organizations to address workplace risks using digital twins, synthetic data and artificial intelligence computer vision. The solution allows customers to create realistic training footage for computer vision models using digital twins, capturing details like protective eyewear shape, equipment color and lighting conditions. Synthetic data also enables modeling of rare events like forklift collisions without involving real employees or exposing personal information.
Once trained, models deploy across facility cameras to provide real-time alerts ensuring workers wear protective equipment correctly. Applications include verifying proper helmet positioning and detecting slipped masks or gloves before laboratory or operating room contamination occurs.
Supporting Government Food Assistance Programs
Multiple U.S. states, including Nevada, use SAS Payment Integrity for Food Assistance to manage Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. Federal regulations now directly fine state budgets for exceeding payment error rate thresholds. SAS connects to existing state data including eligibility records, case management files and transaction histories without requiring complete data infrastructure overhaul.
Advanced analytics and machine learning models trained specifically for SNAP payment integrity track error patterns such as income or household changes that haven’t triggered case updates. Case workers and investigators can follow prioritized leads instead of conducting manual reviews. Supervisors access live dashboard insights rather than quarterly reports, helping states stay ahead of federal compliance requirements while supporting families eligible for food assistance.
Financial Fraud Detection and Prevention
A recent fraud study by SAS and the Association of Certified Fraud Professionals found seventy-five percent of anti-fraud professionals are seeing a surge in financial fraud targeting consumers. Fifty-five percent anticipate that deepfake social engineering and generative AI document fraud will increase significantly over two years. Only seven percent of surveyed professionals felt their organizations were more than moderately prepared to detect or prevent AI-fueled fraud.
Global banks, insurers and financial services organizations use SAS fraud detection models and agents to track financial crime and protect consumer assets. SAS Fraud Decisioning for Payments delivers real-time fraud detection across financial transactions. Models were trained on patterns from datasets contributed by major global financial institutions, spanning credit card fraud, debit card fraud, ATM fraud, digital wallet fraud, application fraud and emerging vectors like money mule detection. Organizations avoid starting from zero, instead learning from millions of fraud events across the industry to keep pace with evolving criminal methods.
