The Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Alswaha, held high-level meetings in South Korea to strengthen Saudi-Korean partnerships in artificial intelligence and the digital economy. Accompanied by the Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), Haytham AlOhali, the delegation met with government ministers and technology investment leaders. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in technology investment, digital government services, and advanced computing.
Expanding Saudi-Korean partnerships in Advanced Technology
During the visit, the delegation focused on accelerating joint initiatives in digital government services and technology investments. These discussions aim to position the Kingdom as a global hub for advanced technologies. Furthermore, the meetings build on the ongoing efforts of Saudi Arabia to expand its international partnerships with global governments and technology companies.
Focus on AI and Semiconductor Infrastructure
Alswaha met with Korean Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT, Bae Kyung-hoon. The two officials discussed cooperation in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and telecommunications infrastructure to support a competitive digital economy. Notably, the talks centered on reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for artificial intelligence through strategic infrastructure development.
Digital Government and Integrated Platforms
The Minister also held talks with the Korean Minister of the Interior and Safety, Yun Ho-jung. They discussed developing integrated government platforms, digital identity systems, and applying artificial intelligence to public services. This meeting also aimed to strengthen the partnership between the Saudi Digital Government Authority and the Korean ministry. Consequently, both nations seek to share expertise in digital governance and public sector innovation.
Supporting Startup Investments and Innovation
In addition, Alswaha met with Albert Lee, the Founder and CEO of APL Ventures. They explored investment opportunities and strategic alliances with Saudi startups to support their global expansion. This initiative aims to integrate the innovation environments of both nations, further solidifying Saudi-Korean partnerships in entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, the discussions highlighted the potential of the Saudi market to attract foreign venture capital.
