Saudi deep-tech startup Uvera has successfully closed the Uvera Seed round with participation from Morgan Stanley Inclusive & Sustainable Ventures, LAB7, and Core Vision. The funding round, which also included several strategic angel investors, did not disclose its financial value. According to a report by Wamda, the company will use the capital to expand the commercial reach of its platform and continue developing its core technologies.

Founded in 2019 by Dr. Asrar Damdam, the startup focuses on reducing global food waste by extending the shelf life of fresh food. The platform integrates proprietary preservation technologies with blockchain-based tracking and internet of things (IoT) analytics. These tools help food producers, distributors, and retailers improve operational efficiency across the supply chain.

Technology Integration and the Uvera Seed round

The company’s platform uses artificial intelligence to analyze supply chain data and predict food spoilage. In addition to the financial investment, LAB7, the venture building arm of Aramco, will collaborate with the startup. This partnership aims to enhance the technical scalability, data integrity, and tracking capabilities of the platform.

“This round represents an important milestone in our efforts to address food waste on a large scale, and reflects our investors’ confidence in our ability to make a tangible impact. We are building the infrastructure for a more resilient and efficient food system, and this investment allows us to bring our technologies to more partners across the value chain.”

Addressing Global Food Waste Challenges

The startup’s expansion comes at a critical time for the global economy, as approximately one-third of all produced food is lost or wasted annually. This waste represents a significant economic cost and environmental challenge. By utilizing smart devices and sensors, the platform provides end-to-end visibility for fresh food shipments.

Future Outlook and Commercial Expansion

The successful completion of the Uvera Seed round will support the company’s long-term goal of mitigating global food waste through deep-tech solutions. The company plans to establish new partnerships with regional distributors to deploy its tracking systems. These systems will help businesses monitor food quality in real-time, ensuring that fresh products reach consumers with minimal degradation.

Strategic Investment Partnerships

The participation of international institutions like Morgan Stanley highlights the growing global interest in Saudi Arabia’s startup ecosystem. Local support from Core Vision and LAB7 further strengthens the company’s position within the domestic market. This combination of local and international backing provides a solid foundation for the company’s future growth.
