Opella has expanded its investment in Saudi Arabia to deliver self-care solutions across the country during its first year as an independent consumer healthcare company.

Previously operating as a division of Sanofi, the standalone entity became independent in 2025. Consequently, the company has focused on strengthening its local presence in the region.

During the past twelve months, the company provided nearly 10 million moments of relief to consumers in the Kingdom. Currently, these products are distributed through more than 4,600 pharmacies alongside authorized e-commerce platforms. This distribution network helps consumers access science-backed options for their daily health needs.

This milestone aligns with the ongoing healthcare transformation under Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes preventive healthcare. Specifically, the national agenda focuses on increasing health literacy and patient empowerment. Therefore, the availability of reliable self-care solutions helps reduce pressure on the traditional healthcare infrastructure.

Expanding Local Footprint in Saudi Arabia

To support this growth, the company expanded its physical presence in both Riyadh and Jeddah. Meanwhile, it increased investments in local partnerships and capabilities to secure supply resilience. Furthermore, collaborations with local manufacturing partners have brought these healthcare products closer to Saudi consumers.

Access to Self-Care Solutions

The company aims to simplify how individuals manage their daily health through accessible self-care solutions. Hossam Abo Ouf, the Country Head for Saudi Arabia and the UAE, commented on the current transition.

“Saudi Arabia is undergoing a significant healthcare transformation, with increasing emphasis on prevention, health literacy, and patient empowerment. At Opella, we believe self-care has an important role to play in supporting these ambitions.”

Collaborations and Product Launches

In the last year, the company launched five new products in the allergy, cough, and digestive wellness categories. Additionally, more product launches are planned to expand the local portfolio. The company also engaged with pharmacists to improve the quality of advice provided to patients.

“As healthcare systems continue to evolve, we see growing opportunities in key markets like Saudi Arabia to expand access to everyday health solutions, support greater patient autonomy, and contribute to more sustainable healthcare systems through responsible self-care.”

Future Outlook and Global Position

On a global scale, the company maintained its position as the third-largest player in the over-the-counter and vitamins categories. Notably, it achieved global B Corp certification and validated its net-zero targets through the Science Based Targets initiative. Looking ahead, the company plans to continue investing in local partnerships and health technology integrations.
