Wahed MENA LLC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a Shariah equity analysis platform for Qatar’s endowment sector. The agreement was signed with the General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. Consequently, this project aims to build a digital system for screening equities listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange.
The platform will combine financial data analysis and compliance monitoring to support internal investment assessment processes. Specifically, the technology will utilize natural language processing alongside financial indicator and ratio analysis. This system will feature a bilingual Arabic and English interface to assist users.
Development of Shariah Equity Analysis Platform
This collaborative initiative brings together Wahed’s experience in Islamic economy solutions and Awqaf’s investment expertise. Meanwhile, the development team is focusing on creating tools for dividend screening and historical compliance tracking. These features will help the organization maintain consistent standards over time.
Technical Capabilities and Features
The system will also include risk-based analysis tools and an artificial intelligence screening support chatbot. Notably, this chatbot is designed for internal use to assist with complex compliance queries. As a result, the platform will provide institutional insights to support financial decisions.
“This initiative ushers in a new era of endowment operations that combines Sharia authenticity with technological innovation.”
Mohammed Abdullah Al Harmi, Director of the Investment Department at the General Directorate of Endowments
Furthermore, Khalid Al Jassim, Executive Chairman of Wahed MENA, stated that the partnership reflects a commitment to putting technology in service of Islamic finance principles.
Alignment with Strategic Goals
This project supports the Ministry’s Strategic Plan for 2025 to 2030, which focuses on digital transformation and performance efficiency. In addition, the initiative aligns with the Qatar National Vision 2030 to transition toward a knowledge-based economy. Therefore, the integration of modern tools remains a priority for local institutions.
Future Outlook for Islamic Finance
Upon completion, the platform will serve as a model for other financial organizations seeking to integrate technology into Shariah equity analysis processes. Wahed currently operates in nine countries and manages over 2 billion dollars in assets. The company serves more than 450,000 clients globally across multiple continents. Ultimately, this project demonstrates how digital tools can assist traditional investment frameworks.
