Sony has officially launched its new wireless earbuds, the LinkBuds Clip Open, featuring an open-ear design that allows users to remain aware of their surroundings. According to a report by Asharq Al-Awsat, the device offers a design that wraps around the ear without entering the ear canal. This design philosophy allows for continuous listening throughout the day without isolating the user from their environment.
Design and Comfort of LinkBuds Clip Open
The LinkBuds Clip Open utilize flexible air fitting cushions to secure the device in place during daily activities or exercise. The earbuds weigh 42 grams and feature an IPX4 rating for water and sweat resistance. Users can locate the earbuds using a single tap on their connected mobile devices via Bluetooth.

Smart Listening Modes and Audio Quality
To address environmental noise, the device includes three smart listening modes. The standard mode is designed for traditional audio playback. The voice boost mode increases the clarity of human speech in crowded environments. Meanwhile, the leak reduction mode adjusts high frequencies to prevent sound from escaping in quiet spaces like offices.
The audio performance is driven by a 10mm dynamic driver that delivers balanced sound. To improve compressed digital files, Sony integrated its Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) to restore high-frequency details. This technology brings the output closer to the original recording quality.
Artificial Intelligence and Connectivity Features
For voice calls, the earbuds use dual microphones combined with artificial intelligence algorithms trained on millions of voice samples. This system isolates the user’s voice and filters out background noise. Additionally, a bone conduction sensor detects jaw vibrations to improve voice clarity in windy or noisy environments.

The LinkBuds Clip Open support Bluetooth 5.3 and multipoint connection, allowing users to connect to two smart devices simultaneously. This feature enables automatic switching between a laptop video call and an incoming phone call. Users can manage these settings through the Sound Connect mobile application, which features a 10-band equalizer and adaptive sound control.
Battery Life and Regional Availability
The battery provides up to 9 hours of continuous playback on a single charge. The charging case provides an additional 28 hours, bringing the total battery life to 37 hours. A quick three-minute charge via USB-C provides up to one hour of playback, while a full charge takes approximately 1.5 hours.
The earbuds are currently available in the Arab region in green, black, violet, and off-white colors. The retail price is set at 799 Saudi Riyals, which is approximately 213 US Dollars. This launch expands Sony’s portfolio of personal audio products in the Middle East market.
