The expansion of Vertiv chiller production capacity at the Tognana campus near Padua will double by the end of 2026, the company announced.
This investment aims to address the growing demand for thermal management systems in data centers.
Consequently, the company is also building a new large-scale testing laboratory scheduled for completion in early 2027.
Expanding Vertiv chiller production
The Tognana site serves as a principal center for cooling technology development, combining research, product management, and manufacturing.
Specifically, the facility features a Customer Experience Center where clients can witness testing of cooling technologies under real-world conditions.
Furthermore, the expansion of Vertiv chiller production will create additional career opportunities across the campus to support regional operations.
New Testing Laboratory for Liquid Cooling
In addition to manufacturing, Vertiv is investing in a new integrated testing laboratory for large-scale chillers.
This facility will validate the integration of chillers with liquid cooling systems under high-density load conditions.
Notably, the laboratory will test equipment under extreme temperature ranges to ensure reliability before deployment.
As a result, customers can validate thermal performance under expected site conditions with greater speed.
Supporting High-Density AI Applications
The rise of artificial intelligence is driving thermal demands that require higher densities and faster deployment.

He added that the expansion provides advanced thermal management systems built for current and future generations of silicon.

The Tognana Campus Legacy
Vertiv has maintained a presence at the Tognana site since the 1960s, building on precision cooling brands.
Specifically, these brands include Vertiv Liebert and Vertiv Hiross, which are pioneers in the cooling industry.
Together with the Castel Guelfo facility near Bologna, the campus forms one of the main European technology hubs.
Moreover, both locations serve as Vertiv Academy sites, providing training programs for technicians and industry professionals.
