ZTE 6G AI technology took center stage at Mobile World Congress 2026, as ZTE Corporation demonstrated what it described as the first artificial intelligence immersive communication prototype system operating in the U6G frequency band. The demonstration took place in Barcelona, Spain, on March 4, 2026.

Multi-Sensory Interaction Replaces Traditional Audio-Visual Communication

The system moves beyond conventional flat-screen communication by integrating visual, auditory, and tactile feedback. High-precision haptic gloves allow users in different locations to perform remote handshakes, pass virtual objects, and conduct collaborative assembly tasks. Force feedback is delivered over the U6G network in real time.

ZTE stated that achieving true sensory synchronization requires network performance at least ten times that of 5G. The company said the system enables instantaneous co-presence and multi-sensory interaction for participants across different physical locations.

ZTE 6G AI Integration Powers Real-Time Digital Human Generation

The demonstration relied on three layers of AI integration. First, AI embedded within the base station performs real-time dynamic scheduling and optimization of communication resources, maintaining millisecond-level synchronization of audio, video, and haptic data. Second, edge AI computing generates photorealistic 3D digital humans and scenes within seconds, compared to the weeks previously required for traditional modeling.

Third, a cloud AI assistant provides real-time visual recognition and multi-turn natural language interaction. ZTE said this combination significantly lowers the computing power threshold required at the terminal device level, making immersive communication feasible on lightweight consumer hardware.

GigaMIMO Prototype Validates U6G Band Performance

ZTE also showcased a 6G GigaMIMO prototype featuring more than 2,000 antenna elements operating at 400 MHz within the U6G band, which spans 6,425 to 7,125 MHz. The company said this prototype validated 6G’s capacity to support ultra-high-definition video, multidimensional sensory feedback, and multiagent collaboration simultaneously. The U6G band is a key candidate spectrum for future 6G telecommunications deployments.

The live trial confirmed that 6G networks can reliably support extreme immersive services, according to ZTE. The company added that the demonstration extends beyond technology validation to explore new use cases within the 6G industrial ecosystem.

ZTE outlined several sectors where immersive communication could drive efficiency gains. These include education, healthcare, industrial collaboration, and sports and tourism. The company stated that the technology could allow high-value resources to transcend spatial limitations, enabling broader access regardless of geographic location.
