ZTE GigaMIMO 6G technology made its public debut at MWC Barcelona 2026, as ZTE Corporation formally presented its 6G Vision for Human-Agent Synergy on March 5, 2026. The company outlined a roadmap positioning 6G as foundational infrastructure for the coexistence of humans, physical objects, and intelligent agents.
Three Core Transformations Driving the 6G Vision
ZTE stated that 6G represents more than a generational upgrade in communication technology. The company identified three core societal transformations the technology will drive. Connectivity transformation will extend network reach from humans and objects to include intelligent agents, building an integrated space-air-ground network that eliminates geographical service boundaries.
Interaction transformation will shift from two-dimensional audio-visual formats to multi-dimensional perception powered by artificial intelligence. Furthermore, service transformation will evolve networks from passive data pipelines into proactive agent networks capable of active support rather than passive response.
ZTE GigaMIMO 6G: Centralized and Distributed Variants
ZTE unveiled what it described as the industry’s first U6G band 2000-plus-antenna-element 6G prototype system under the Centralized GigaMIMO category. The system achieves a 10x capacity improvement over 5G-Advanced under AI algorithm-driven operation. Moreover, it elevates edge user experience to a level comparable with mainstream 3.5 GHz bands without requiring new site deployments.
In the Distributed GigaMIMO category, ZTE completed field verification in collaboration with China Mobile. Under AI-coordinated scheduling, cell-edge user experience improved by 6 times. The company said this result breaks through traditional network capacity bottlenecks and forms a foundation for the evolution from 5G-Advanced to 6G.
Spectral Efficiency and Ecosystem Milestones
Through co-design of massive MIMO and AI algorithms, ZTE achieved spectral efficiency improvement of over 30%. The company said this advancement ensures network experience consistency and service differentiation capabilities necessary for large-scale 6G deployment. Consequently, this positions the technology as a viable candidate for commercial rollout planning.
ZTE and China Mobile jointly completed the industry’s first IODT verification of a single carrier with 400 MHz bandwidth in the U6G band, covering the 6425–7125 MHz frequency range. Additionally, ZTE’s GigaMIMO demonstrated the first AI immersive interaction in the U6G band, targeting a redefined paradigm for human-agent interaction in future telecommunications networks.
“ZTE looks forward to continuing its collaboration with global partners to jointly usher in a new era of intelligent connectivity for human-agent synergy.”
