Apple has officially introduced the new AirTag, marking a significant upgrade to its bestselling item finder with expanded connectivity range and improved findability features. The second-generation device brings powerful enhancements that make locating lost items easier than ever before.

Enhanced Precision Finding and Extended Range

The new AirTag is powered by Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, the same advanced technology found in the iPhone 17 lineup, iPhone Air, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch Series 11. This upgrade enables Precision Finding to guide users to their lost items from up to 50 percent farther away than the previous generation, using haptic, visual, and audio feedback.

An upgraded Bluetooth chip significantly expands the range at which items can be located, while the redesigned internal architecture makes the device 50 percent louder than its predecessor. Users can now hear their AirTag from up to twice the distance, making it easier to find keys hidden between couch cushions or a wallet before heading out the door.

Apple Watch Integration and Find My Network

For the first time, users can utilize Precision Finding on Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, bringing the powerful tracking experience directly to the wrist. The Find My network, a crowdsourced system of Apple devices using Bluetooth technology, helps track down AirTag when it’s out of range of its paired iPhone.

Since the original AirTag launch in 2021, users worldwide have shared countless stories of being reunited with lost luggage, keys, bicycles, and bags. One musician located their lost instrument with an AirTag placed inside the case and was able to perform that evening, while another user found lost luggage containing lifesaving medication.

Share Item Location and Airline Partnerships

The new AirTag integrates seamlessly with Share Item Location, an iOS feature that helps users recover misplaced items by temporarily and securely sharing their location with trusted third parties such as airlines. Apple has partnered with more than 50 airlines to privately accept Share Item Location links.

According to SITA, a leading IT provider for airlines, carriers report that using Share Item Location has reduced baggage delays by 26 percent and reduced incidences of truly lost or unrecoverable luggage by 90 percent. Access is granted only to authorized personnel via secure authentication, and shared locations automatically expire after seven days.

Privacy, Security, and Environmental Commitment

Designed exclusively for tracking objects and not people or pets, the new AirTag incorporates industry-first protections against unwanted tracking, including cross-platform alerts and unique Bluetooth identifiers that change frequently. The device doesn’t physically store location data or history, and end-to-end encryption protects all communication with the Find My network.

Supporting Apple’s 2030 carbon neutrality goal, the device features 85 percent recycled plastic in the enclosure, 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in all magnets, and 100 percent recycled gold plating in all printed circuit boards. The paper packaging is entirely fiber-based and easily recyclable.

Pricing and Availability in Saudi Arabia

The new AirTag is available to order on apple.com/sa and in the Apple Store app today, with availability at Apple Store locations later this week. Customers can add personalized engraving for free during checkout. The device is priced at SAR 139 for a single AirTag and SAR 469 for a four-pack, maintaining the same price point as its predecessor.
