The fourth edition of the regional bus exhibition, Busworld Southeast Asia 2026, concluded in Jakarta, Indonesia, highlighting the country’s role in the regional transport sector. Held from May 20 to 22, the event gathered industry players to showcase new transit technologies. This exhibition serves as a key platform for the regional automotive industry.
The exhibition featured 47 exhibitors from nine countries and attracted 5,133 registered visitors representing 41 nations. Displays covered an area of nearly 8,000 square meters, presenting 25 vehicles that highlighted modern public transport solutions. These figures represent a significant gathering of international transport professionals.
Electrification Trends at Busworld Southeast Asia 2026
The event highlighted a shift toward electric mobility and passenger comfort in the transport sector. Chinese manufacturers introduced new Higer and Golden Dragon models to the Indonesian market. Meanwhile, local manufacturer Laksana unveiled its Legacy SR3 Neo Panorama electric bus, built on a Hyundai Elec City chassis, for the Persija Jakarta Football Club. This vehicle represents the first fully-electric bus dedicated to an Indonesian sports club.
International Partnerships and Conferences
A parallel conference program featured more than 40 regional and international experts discussing safety, digitalization, and electrification. Notably, land transport officials from Malaysia conducted field visits to the TransJakarta electric bus network, which serves over one million passengers daily. This highlights the growing regional integration within the transport economy and infrastructure development.
Industry Recognition and Awards
The event also celebrated manufacturing achievements through community-voted excellence awards. The SDD Jetbus 5 model by PT Adiputro Wirasejati won the Bus of the Year award. Additionally, Piala Mas secured awards for its All New Rexus 8D model, while PT Laksana and PT Tentrem Sejahtera received recognition for electric design and luxury features.
