McDonald’s Saudi Arabia economic impact reached SAR 3.6 billion in Gross Domestic Product contribution and supported more than 22,500 jobs during the period from April 2024 to March 2025, according to a report by Oxford Economics released on April 26, 2026.
The independent advisory firm’s analysis examined McDonald’s economic and social impact across multiple sectors. The company’s operations generated direct, indirect, and induced economic effects that ripple through Saudi Arabia’s economy. For every SAR 1 million in direct contribution, McDonald’s creates an additional SAR 2.2 million in GDP across various industries, demonstrating the strength of its economic multiplier effect.
Breaking Down the Economic Contribution
McDonald’s economic impact in Saudi Arabia distributes across three integrated levels. The company generated SAR 1.1 billion in direct contributions from its operations. Local supplier spending produced an indirect contribution of SAR 1.7 billion. Employee and supply chain worker spending created an induced impact of SAR 800 million. This multi-layered effect underscores how restaurant operations extend benefits throughout the national economy.
Operations and Service Volume
McDonald’s operates 438 restaurants across different regions of the Kingdom. During the reporting period, the company served more than 121 million meals. This total includes over 89 million meals served in restaurants and more than 32 million meals through home delivery and other channels. The scale of operations reflects the company’s significant presence in Saudi Arabia’s food service sector.
Employment and Workforce Development
McDonald’s Saudi Arabia operations supported 22,500 jobs, including 13,078 direct positions in restaurants and management, and 9,450 indirect jobs across supply chains and related sectors. The company invested more than SAR 4.6 million in training and development programs. Over the same period, McDonald’s delivered more than 2,500 training hours and awarded over 6,000 certifications in restaurant operations, customer service, and team leadership.
Community and Social Responsibility Initiatives
McDonald’s team contributed more than 53,000 volunteer hours supporting local associations, school visits, and environmental initiatives. The company provided more than SAR 4 million in donations to organizations serving individuals with Down syndrome, young innovators, and people with disabilities. McDonald’s also donated more than 28,000 meals to schools, underprivileged families, orphans, and cultural and religious events. These efforts operate under the company’s corporate social responsibility platform, “Minkom Wa Feekom,” which focuses on supporting local initiatives and empowering diverse community groups.
Future Investment and Long-Term Commitment
McDonald’s affirms its long-term commitment to the Saudi market through an investment of more than SAR 312 million in building new restaurants and upgrading existing ones. This amount represents approximately 11 percent of the company’s total supplier spending. The investment reflects McDonald’s confidence in the Kingdom’s future and its contribution to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
His Highness Prince Mishaal Bin Khalid Al Saud, Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Riyadh International Catering Company, said the report reflects a year of continuous commitment to playing an active role in the Kingdom’s national development. He stated that the private sector’s responsibility extends beyond operational growth to creating sustainable economic and social value that empowers national talent, strengthens community partnerships, and contributes to Vision 2030 objectives.
McDonald’s operates in Saudi Arabia through two franchisees: Riyadh International Catering Corporation, serving the Central, Eastern, and Northern regions, and Ali Reza Food Services Co.
