Zain Kuwait has launched its new real-time call translation service, becoming the first operator in the country to offer this feature. This development represents a significant step in the integration of artificial intelligence within standard mobile communications. Consequently, users can now communicate across different languages without relying on third-party translation software.

Launch of the Pioneer Program

The operator introduced the technology through its AI Calling Translation Pioneer Program, which provides selected customers with early access to real-time call translation between Arabic and English. During the initial phase, participants can speak in their preferred language while the system translates the conversation for both parties. Furthermore, this initiative builds on the company’s 2023 demonstration of its network readiness during the GSMA New Calling Summit in Paris. At that event, the operator was the only representative from the MENA region invited to showcase its intelligent calling roadmap.

Features of Real-Time Call Translation

According to a report by Telecom Review, the capabilities of this service extend beyond basic voice translation. Specifically, the program includes video calling support, noise suppression, and automated call summaries. In addition, the solution allows customers to interact visually with menus directly on their native call screens. As a result, users can resolve inquiries quickly without opening external apps.

Integration and Device Compatibility

Unlike traditional translation tools, this service does not require a separate download or account registration. Users can activate real-time call translation directly through the native dialer of their smartphones. Currently, the recently launched Huawei Pura90s series serves as the flagship device platform for the initial rollout. This device combines 5G-Advanced capabilities with the operator’s existing network infrastructure. Meanwhile, the company plans to expand compatibility to other mobile devices in the near future.

Strategic Network Roadmap

The deployment of this service aligns with the operator’s broader “4WARD” strategy. By utilizing its 5G-Advanced telecommunications infrastructure, the company aims to deliver more responsive digital services. Feedback collected from the pioneer phase will help optimize the system before its commercial release. This feedback will guide the technical team in refining voice recognition accuracy across different dialects. Ultimately, this rollout highlights how advanced network capabilities can simplify daily communication.
