The FE 8-14mm Fisheye G lens has officially launched in Saudi Arabia for full-frame Alpha E-mount cameras, Sony announced in Riyadh. The optical accessory represents the company’s first fisheye zoom model within the G Lens series, expanding creative options for photographers, cinematographers, and commercial visual creators across the region.

Optical Coverage and Zoom Range of FE 8-14mm Fisheye G

The lens covers a versatile focal range spanning from 8 mm to 14 mm on full-frame sensors. At the ultra-wide 8 mm setting, it produces circular fisheye images delivering a full 180-degree angle of view in all directions within the image frame. When adjusted to the 14 mm focal length, the lens transitions into a diagonal fisheye perspective, capturing a 180-degree diagonal field of view that fills the entire camera sensor.

High-Resolution Optics and Close-Up Capability

Engineered to meet the optical standards of the G Lens lineup, the internal architecture integrates advanced Extra-low Dispersion glass alongside precision aspherical optical elements. This combination actively suppresses chromatic aberrations, color bleeding, and peripheral distortion across the full zoom range. As a result, the FE 8-14mm Fisheye G maintains high-resolution clarity and contrast from center to corner.

In addition to landscape and wide-angle capture, the optical construction provides a minimum focusing distance of 0.15 meters. At the 14 mm telephoto setting, it achieves a maximum magnification ratio of 0.22x, enabling creators to capture dynamic close-up perspectives with pronounced background exaggeration.

Mobility and Spatial Content Production

Designed for field mobility, the compact lens body weighs approximately 314 grams and measures 63.1 mm in maximum diameter by 82.8 mm in length. Its internal zoom mechanism ensures the physical barrel length remains constant during focal adjustments, preventing center-of-gravity shifts when mounted on handheld rigs, gimbals, or drone setups.

For immersive video production, the lens supports multi-camera configurations. When deployed in a side-by-side dual-lens rig paired with the VENICE Extension System Mini, the optical axes align at approximately 64 mm apart. This inter-pupillary distance enables cinematographers to capture stereoscopic spatial video and VR content with natural depth perception.

Controls, Autofocus, and Local Availability

The lens incorporates a responsive autofocus motor alongside Linear Response manual focusing, allowing direct and repeatable focus control during video recording while minimizing focus breathing. External physical controls include a dedicated focus mode switch, an aperture ring with switchable click stops, and a zoom lock mechanism to secure focal settings.

Featuring a dust- and moisture-resistant design for reliable outdoor shooting, the FE 8-14mm Fisheye G is scheduled to arrive at authorized retailers throughout Saudi Arabia by mid-October, carrying an official retail price of SAR 6,599.
