The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) will organize the Space Connectivity Events in Riyadh from October 12 to 14, 2026. This initiative, held in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), runs under the title “Connected World, Sustainable Space.” Consequently, the gathering combines two major forums to address global communication challenges.
Specifically, the event integrates the third editions of the Global Forum on Connecting the World from the Skies and the Space Sustainability Forum. This unified platform aims to show a global commitment to advancing non-terrestrial networks (NTN). Meanwhile, participants will discuss the integration of terrestrial and satellite systems to expand global telecommunications coverage.
Integrating Terrestrial and Non-Terrestrial Networks
Regulators, manufacturers, and service providers will gather to explore technical developments in NTN. These technologies play a vital role in bridging the global digital divide. Furthermore, the discussions will focus on the responsible use of space resources and the exchange of practical experiences.
Key Themes of the Space Connectivity Events
The agenda features eight distinct themes that address modern communication challenges. Specifically, sessions will cover integrated connectivity for the 6G era and preparations for the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-27). In addition, experts will discuss direct-to-device (D2D) connectivity in mobile devices and the growth of emerging economy sectors in space.
Other themes focus on space as critical infrastructure and space-enabled sustainability on Earth. Meanwhile, speakers will address global governance, responsible behavior, and the mitigation of space debris. These topics aim to establish safer orbital operations for future satellite deployments.
Technical Trials and Research Competitions
The event will showcase the outcomes of the latest NTN technical trials. Notably, organizers will announce the winners of the third NTN international research competition. This competition is organized in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Attendees can also expect panel discussions and technical presentations. These sessions will cover the regulatory, scientific, and operational aspects of modern NTN services. As a result, the event serves as a primary venue for academic and industrial exchange.
