ZTE Corporation and DroidUp have introduced an embodied intelligent robot designed for sustained operation in open, high-density environments, debuting the system at MWC 2026 in Barcelona on March 9, 2026. The robot represents a shift from controlled laboratory settings to real-world deployment in complex public spaces.

Embodied Intelligent Robot Debuts at MWC 2026

ZTE developed the robot using its network technology and artificial intelligence infrastructure, combining edge computing with real-time environment perception. The system supports dynamic decision-making and natural interaction, enabling it to operate reliably in dense crowds over extended periods.

Interaction Capabilities and Multilingual Support

The robot shifts from passive response to proactive social engagement, driven by ZTE’s proprietary large-scale AI model. It recognizes visitors’ distance and body language to initiate welcoming gestures and resumes dialogue seamlessly after natural interruptions. The system supports multiple languages, including Chinese, English, French, and Spanish, adjusting tone and expression based on context.

Moreover, the robot’s voice adaptability allows it to switch between technical explanations and casual conversation. This makes interactions consistent across different visitor profiles and scenarios encountered on the exhibition floor.

Network and Edge Computing Architecture

ZTE’s high-uplink, low-latency wireless telecommunications network powers the robot’s lightweight computing architecture. This setup enables the system to access edge computing resources efficiently, extending its capabilities beyond simple interaction. The robot automatically adjusts lighting and screen content in real time to synchronize with its narration.

Furthermore, LiDAR and vision-fusion algorithms allow the robot to perform high-precision obstacle avoidance and autonomous path planning. It navigated crowded exhibition spaces to provide personalized, follow-along guidance to visitors throughout the event.

“Moving forward, ZTE will continue to connect the world through innovation, advance the development of embodied intelligence, and strengthen the ecosystem for human-agent synergy.”

Full-Stack Technology and Future Outlook

ZTE stated that the demonstration validated, for the first time in sustained daily operation, the reliability of smart devices built on embodied intelligence in complex real-world scenarios. The company provides a full-stack foundation spanning network infrastructure, edge computing, AI model integration, and environmental perception.

As a result, the company said it plans to continue developing the embodied intelligence ecosystem in collaboration with industry partners. ZTE listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (0763.HK) and Shenzhen Stock Exchange (000063.SZ) said it aims to expand human-agent collaboration beyond exhibition environments into broader commercial applications.
